This dinner was planned approximately 8 weeks ago. Coz It was the first day all 8 involved could make it to dinner. Someone in the group is doing an MBA( cough cough, pretend studying). I will believe it when I see a degree certificate in June. 2 women have a VERY active social life due to which all previous Fridays and Saturdays were taken. So Jan 9th it Was!! We had a reservation for 7.30 pm. The husband and myself were the first to arrive. Sharp 7.30 and what do you know? The hostess couldn't seat us coz our table wasn't ready. So basically, They took the reservation.... Confirmed the reservation..... But couldn't "hold" it. Have you watched the Seinfeld episode regarding this? Poor Jerry had a car reservation but no car when he went to pick up. same to same story hai. The rest of our party arrived within minutes and since the company was entertaining, I didn't mind the wait. We were finally seated at 8 pm. A gooooood half an hour later. The waiter apologized for the wait BUT I did not get any freebies. Tho apology ka kya faayda hua na? Actions speak louder than words always!! This place has a good wine menu according to the wine connoisseur in the group. I wasn't drinking tonight ( What??? yeah I know , now close your mouth ). another friend also wasn't drinking, she is in rehab detox program ( kidding!!). She was still super fun. I had Green tea instead. The menu here ALSO changes seasonally. We ordered everything veg on the menu. I mean between 8 veg people, what do you expect? Beet salad deserves an honorable mention. The flatbreads, dips and soups were all good. I did not have a main course coz I ate a lot of fresh desi mithai before going to Harvest Grill so I was kinda full. If you are wondering which idiot eats before going to a restaurant? Then let me ask you this, which idiot refuses fresh desi mithai? aap maano ya na maano, par Main tho intelligent hoon na?
Others had Portabella Mushroom philly sandwich, Stir fried tofu, quinoa salad, squash soup some more flatbreads and it was aaaallll good. With good company, the food does taste better. So the conversation flowed around our birth names and "Gotram". Out of the 8, can you believe that 2 had the same Gotra which means their lineage is the same. Now I am looking for my maaikeywaale here. Dont take offense if I ask you for your Gotra when I see you. Nice place, you should try. $$$. The service is good but dont expect Emily( Roots Cafe) to be there. Emily sees an empty cup and brings Green Tea refill. Our waiter here had to be reminded. In his defense, he served a party of 27 people before us. Must have been tiring. Huge restaurant, good menu , good service bas reservation ka problem hai. and its not the first time. I have been here 4 times so far and they did this to me once before. so, 50-50 chance of being seated "on time" hai. Logistics based ERP koi bech haha hai tho you have a prospective client . They are opening another location in Radnor this year. That will bring their total to 7.

#50Restaurantpact # 2 The Roots Cafe West Chester PA
You can NEVER go wrong with this place. I have been here half a dozen times so far. The menu changes with the season. The food is always good and they support local farmers. Hurray!!! So you know where the ingredients come from. I had a carrot ginger soup and pumpkin ravioli from Vera Pasta. Both were good. My friends who had the Salmon say it was good too but the portion was big. The cheese platter was huuuuge. We split the dessert, Pistachio custard crepe. I wouldn't rave about that. It was theek thaak. I am more a desi mithai type of person. So take my opinion with a pinch of salt. The place is open for Breakfast and Lunch Tues-Sunday. Open for dinner Thurs-Sat. Thursday is BYOB night. They do have a limited bar menu. One of my favorite places and the service is very personable. Wouldn't recommend going there with huge group. The place is very small. The main area seats approx 25 people. They have outdoor seating during summer which is very cozy and warm. $$. But you know what they say - pay the farmer now for good food or pay the doctor later for eating junk. Try this place. You will like it!!. Reservations highly recommended. Say Hi to Emily when you go. She is the best waitress!!

$50Restaurant Pact #1 Kumo Collegeville
Kumo 99 Market Street Collegeville PA. I have been home for a week now AND THAT was stifffffling. Sooooo we stepped out today and went to the Young Innovators fair in Oaks PA. We hung out at the fair for sometime and then it was lunch time. Since the first born was signed up for some circuit making session which was going to begin at 2 pm, we decided to stay close by. I was in the mood for some hot soup. I googled and decided that this place "Kumo" sounded nice and the internet had given it higggggh ratings.
The place was easy to find. The hostess seated us immediately, the menu was ..... BLAH. I MEAN THESE PEOPLE WERE MAKING MY LIFE DIFFICULT BY REFUSING TO SUBSTITUTE FISH/ASSORTED SEAFOOD/MEAT WITH TOFU OR VEGETABLES. I give them 0 POINTS for creativity. ZERO!! All the soups had fish stock in them. After much discussion we decided to order avocado salad, ginger and green salad, avocado roll, asparagus roll and veg fried rice. Also coz these were the only veg items on the menu. The food arrived rather quickly. The food was bland. I am a desi wholly soully. The husband says that to me often but today I acknowledge it yet again. mazaa nahi aaya. Place wasn't pricey. Bill sirf $38 tha. Since Dil and Paet were both not khush, we went to Sublime cupcakes which was round the corner in the same shopping center. I had an "original" cupcake and the kids had "chocolate square" and "Strawberry" cupcake respectively. That was yummy in the tummy. I will always be partial towards Dia Doce cupcakes. Those make life and life's sorrows worth it. But Sublime cupcakes were good too. I will be going back. Kumo kabhi nahi jaoongi.
